Macaron Vs. Nature

Macaron Vs. Nature is a small photo series, aka collections here. It started out by random chance when I was using some leaves to style with some coffee + macarons. It didn't work out as I had planned but I remember feeling thoroughly amused that the leaves were matching this green shade of macaron. So the photo above happened. ^

As you can tell, I was quite amused by finding things that matched these macaron colors and tried another one... By now I wanted to match all the colors to all of nature! However I wanted to spice things up so I tried a different composition...

Not sure where this series will go but I know I'll continue to follow the things I find amusing. ;) Any suggestions or colors you'd like to see next?

Morning Rituals

Like I mentioned in this post, morning rituals are still a little new to me. So far, I've been able to read, blog, cook, draw and of course take photos to document the process of me turning into an early bird! Side effects include extra cheerfulness, more optimism and more pastries!!!

Sometimes I wait for the sun to come out so I can take some still photos with sufficient lighting and sometimes I sip my coffee and catch up with a lot of branding/marketing/photography books before I'm off to work. There's still not enough time to do as much as I'd like but now I don't find myself saying "I just don't have time to do it."

Family of Collections - Fun With Food

Like I mentioned in my last post, collections are such a great way to identify themes that are resonant in your photos. Looking through my Instagram feed, I noticed another growing (and favorite!) collection-- composing and having fun with food and the different ways to style food.


Familiarity plays a huge roll in collections and general themes. For example, I love using the same cutting board or the same backdrop for food because it gives context to the place and scene.

The Family Of Collections

Aren't collections awesome? Whether they're physical or digital sets, having recurring ideas through  photos is one of the best ways of identifying which themes to play with and which themes are more resonant than others. Currently, I have 3 recurring themes that I'd like to explore more often:

1// Balloons - These photographs were actually all taken in front of the same parking lot on different weekends. It's in front of a furniture store that seemed endlessly had "Closing Sales" I guess one of the most optimistic things you can do is bring a balloon into this world, right?

2// Flowers gathered in small vases when the light is just too good (part of my ongoing Flowers and Light series) - Flowers just do it for me. One of the many reasons I picked up my camera from the very beginning was to collect memories of these simple pick-me-ups.



3// Adventures and Afternoons with Instaxes and Photo Prints - Isn't this the height of what meta means? I'd love to experiment more on how to creatively display photographs in photographs. Here's a glance at my inspiration board.
