Flowers and Light - Tulips

I took these still life photos when we first moved into our place. I was testing the light in different rooms and I was pleasantly surprised when I found my dining room to have the kind of light I needed. It's a giant soft box really with three (THREE!) walls that are completely bare to bounce off light coming in from the windows.

It's now turned into my studio where I take on product & food photography projects. However, to have to take down the studio and shift the dining table back into its place becomes a daily ordeal. So if I have two shoots in a row, my husband and I opt to dinner on the living room floor. It's not that bad...it's kind of like having a picnic on the regular! :P

So I'm curious to know, what does your photo set up look like?

  1. Love the even lighting! The things you gotta do right? I take most photos of my kids outdoors. Indoors, I just suck it up with grainy ISO or use a external flash.

  2. Gorgeous photo! And I love that you tested out each room for the best lighting! I just use a desk against a white wall for most of my photos, now I may have to think this through a bit more haha!

  5. Ah! sounds like you have the perfect set up for photography in your dining room! I'd love that! But unfortunately most NYC/Brooklyn apartments are not super natural-light friendly :( But my new place has giant window doors in my room which I'm super excited about...it's now allowed me to take photos on my floor, at least :) I'm so glad to see tulips here today, Tana! I recently got some at my neighborhood bodega and swooned because they're usually a spring flower! Hope you've been well, friend! xoxo

  6. Great captures! Love tulips. I don't really have a photo set up but I do try to take pictures near window. I do need soft box for my flat as in winter times it does get rather dark. We are looking for the new place next year and I hope to find a flat with better lighting!
