Cabo Snapshots

CaboSnapshots-6 CaboSnapshots-5

I had the pleasure of traveling with my mum to Cabo this past February. Most of it was work related but I did have a few hours to lounge around the beach and most importantly take pictures. I didn't bring very many cameras with me-just my instax and diana. I wanted to travel light and take pictures using different mediums--since I usually wouldn't otherwise.

For starters, there is THIS (^^) gorgeous view. I mean, seriously right? How much more blue can the water get? See more proof here and here. Though, to be honest, I quite prefer the soft California sand. Cabo is beautiful and all but there were so many scratches (re: exfoliation) on my legs after a dip in this side of the ocean.

And then of course, there are some double exposures. I got lucky the last few times because I definitely struggled to get these shots (lots of wasted film you don't see here). I think the sky needs to be a little overcast and not blue to get that perfect exposure. Still really digging these ethereal ones though.

One of the two afternoons while I was walking around, I got to meet Anne-Sophie, a yoga instructor from San Francisco. I asked if I could take a photo of her doing yoga and she was kind enough to let me snap a few. We eventually got to talking about traveling and immediately struck up a friendship. Don't you love when that happens?

Well, that was fun! In an ideal world, I would have loved to explore more of Cabo. Definitely hope to next time. :) Now your turn! What cameras do you like to take on a trip? Instant? Film? Digital?

  1. These are absolutely beautiful! Especially those double exposures. I have never used an Instant camera before, but after this, I definitely want to get one. I love using my film and digital cameras, but lean on my iPhone a lot when I'm traveling.

  3. these are beautiful. i love how your instax shoots! i like that you choose what cameras to bring. sometimes i bring all of mine (toy, dslr, phone, instax) at once and it gets a bit overwhelming. i have to learn how to keep some at home while taking others out.

    1. Thanks, Jane! Tell me about it - I used to get so overwhelmed when I have one too many cameras on a trip.

  4. I've always loved the way you document such moments. Cabo looks fantastic, I'm going on vacation soon and it's getting me in the holiday mood already! I prefer using a digital portable camera to capture anything and everything, and from thereon I can select the best photos for printing :)

  5. I'm guilty of not using my instax enough either, since I usually opt for my DSLR and it's too heavy to carry both! I absolutely love how your double exposures turned out though, sadly I have the older version and it doesn't have that feature :(

    1. Double exposures (and the macro mode) were two reasons why I bought this specific camera--definitely a great purchase and it's so much lighter than it's predecessors. Thanks, Mani! :)

  7. Oh first of all, you're so lucky to have gone to Cabo! And now yay - thanks for sharing these beautiful photos, Tana! You're always so good at capturing beauty. The view looks so amazing, and I can only imagine how warm and beautiful the water must have been! Also, how nice of you to take photos of the yoga instructor - I'm sure they came out beautifully! I really miss my Polaroid camera I have back home, these photos are making me regret not bringing it with me to NY! :) Hope you had a wonderful weekend, lovely lady!

  9. Which Instax camera do you use? I'm going to have to get one after looking at these snaps. I LOVE the double exposure effect. Maybe you could do something creative with the wasted film and make it into an art project.

    1. Hey Brittney! I use the instax mini 90. This is the only one that has a double exposure feature so far. I absolutely want to do something creative with the wasted film, thanks for the reminder! :)
