So pomegranate season is in full effect. At first I didn't think much of it until our mom gave us one to take home. Then I thought it would be fun to take some photos before we eat one. However, I couldn't just have one pomegranate, I needed two (with the kind of photo I was envisioning...). So I made a quick run to Trader Joe's to pick up another one.
Of all the at-home-studio shoots that I've done, not surprisingly, this ended up being the messiest! At the end of the session, it was just a white poster board with lots of pom. juice (which at first resembled blood).
Since most of these shoots occur in the patio, I hope my neighbors aren't worried at the sight of red-looking juice splattered everywhere.
Do you like pomegranates? Do you eat them raw or juice them first? Mix them with other dishes too?
This is definitely motivating me to eat the pomegranates in my kitchen right now. How lovely! Your photography is wonderful and always so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Angel! I hope you did get to eat some delicious pomegranates!! :)
DeleteGorgeous photos!! I love pomegranates! I had never eaten them fresh until recently (only juice) but recently took a new love affair for them! It's hard work getting those little gems out, but once you do, so delish!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jessica! :) It's almost cathartic to take the time and work on getting each one out and they're soo worth it at the end.

DeleteOh Tana I love pomegranates! I remember they were a very popular fruit for fall back in Iran. I recently watched a little video of how to have them without any mess, pretty cool. I'll find the link and send it to you!
ReplyDeleteI was reading up on the origins of pomegranates and it was mentioned that is came from Iran! Did you live there as a kid? I used to think they came from India but I can see how it easily migrated over now. :)
