I got to take home some more blooms this past weekend! But to my surprise this wasn't a floraly bloom, it was a vegetable bloom! I couldn't believe it when they told me...it was white kale!
On Instagram, as the guesses came, one of my friends mentioned that it might not be what we were told it was. But then what could it be? So then I googled it and I'm happy to confirm (at least 90%) that it is indeed white kale. The ones pictured in the search are slightly greener and/or more pink but there are articles that suggest that during the early seasons, mixing kale with violas helps them come with colors like this. Maybe I should..taste it to make sure? They're just too pretty!
They've lasted 5 day so far and with only the outer petals giving away. I never thought a vegetable could be this gorgeous.
What are you upto this weekend? Lovely plans, I hope! Are we relaxing, traveling, a little bit of both? I think I might be relaxing mostly. Last weekend was a little intense with a trip to Vegas and then wedding photography the same day I got back! But like I said before...it's such a perk to take these lovelies home. :)
Wait. what???!!! White kale?! I'm in love with kale and make it all the time (plus, Mingo LOVES kale!!) I have never heard of white kale but it is SO gorgeous! I would not want to eat it :) It looks like a lovely large flower! Perfectly photographed as always, lovely Tana, you really captured its beauty!! xo
ReplyDeleteNo way that Mingo loves kale!! That is so neat!! I found out that it's considered an "ornamental kale" hahah so I agree, I wouldn't eat it either. Thank you, Jessica! <3
DeleteThis white kale is gorgeous! I've seen some before but never this pretty and so large. I'll definitely recommend to my friend to plant in her garden.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it gorgeous?? Oh that would be so awesome if your friend plants it in her garden, would love to see how that turns out. :)
DeleteBeautiful photos as always Tana! I have never heard of white kale before, stunning!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much Maru! I had never heard of it before either, still surprising to me. :)
DeleteSo weird.. white kale? It looks like just a white flower haha! I love the last photo so much. I also had a chance to take a look at your iceland photos.. so beautiful. I'd love to go there one day.
ReplyDeleteJessica
Aww thanks so much for checking out my Iceland posts! We always talk about going back. I definitely hope you get to visit soon, it's such a gorgeous and surreal place. I'd recommend going once in the summer and once at the end of winter. The landscapes are literally transformed from one season to the next. :)
DeleteWow white kale is so beautiful ! Hard to believe it's a vegetable. It looks more like a flower than a veggie.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree, Divya! It definitely looks more like a flower, wish it smelled like it too! ;)
Deletewow. i have never heard of white kale! how beautifully unique!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! It lasts quite a long time too. :)
DeleteNow that's a surprise. A pleasant surprise, actually. I didn't know that vegetables could be such pretty nifty things - ah nature, you never fail to impress.
ReplyDeleteAlso, your plans sound fab! I have a party to attend to, and just some schoolwork to get done with. Here's wishing you well as always :)
I love the way you phrased that, Rachel, it was a pleasant surprise indeed! :) Wish you well always deal! :) Hope the party was fun and you got to finish all your work.
DeleteI'm madly in love with your photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! <3
DeleteWe don't have kale in Greece so this looks as a beautiful flower to me! It is so nice though to discover new things like that :)
ReplyDeleteReally?? I wonder if it's mainly in North America then? Agreed, I love when simple things surprise us so greatly. :)
DeleteWow, I can't believe kale could be this pretty and I didn't even know white kale was a thing! I hope you had a great weekend Tana!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Nnenna, hope you had a great weekend too! :) I couldn't believe it at first either.
DeleteWow, they are gorgeous!! I love when people use unconventional things in bouquets :) Definitely unique, love them!
ReplyDeleteI agree! It's such a nice surprise to see something unexpected used for flower arrangements and bridal bouquets! This was also paired with something that looked like a plant with delicate clear petals. It was gorgeous! :)
