More Henna Cupcakes

It had been almost a year since I last made henna cupcakes. It's a long process to make them but they are a labor of love and a becoming tradition for any given occasion. Both the white chocolate macademia nut cupcakes and the buttercream frosting are made from scratch. The frosting is almost the same consistency as henna so it's perfect to put it in an empty (homemade) henna cone. (I've tried pre-made frosting and the flow is just not the same--it always has to be made from scratch!) Each cupcake is then uniquely designed which takes about 3-4 minutes each.

P.S. It's soooo good to be back in the swing of things. Some NY snapshots here: 1, 2, 3

Photo Prop Wishlist: Vases

Lately I've been lusting on some imperfectly perfect vases like the ones seen above. A little dent here, a little crinkle there. Perfect to display for florals and botanicals and succulents. I can't wait to take photos with these vases, whenever you know, my wallet isn't empty...;) The thing about photo props is that they are so easy to accumulate but a bit harder to combine with other previously purchased props. My goal for now is to collect and curate pieces that go well with each other and not just separately. But until then, enjoy...

Top left//  Crinkle Bag Vase - Genius. brilliant. witty. Available on the MoMa online store.
Top right//  Wrong Objects Beautiful vases designed by Giha Woo and Shingoeun
Bottom left//  Flowerpot - Lovely shaped pots that you can literally pin on the wall.
Bottom right//  Dent Bud Vase - Imperfectly perfect. I love it.

P.S. VSCO  said some really sweet words about my VSCO Grid  on their Twitter and Facebook  page. I'm so humbled by the positive feedback. Thank you! <3

P.P.S. I'll be in NYC this weekend. What does one do on a snowy day? Any specific places to check out? Would love to hear your suggestions. :)

Natural Remedies

Untitled

It's strange what having a cold does to you. All you want to do is be healthy again and swear off all the junk food and staying up late activities. I admire how people just do their normal routine packed with natural remedies or meds. I visited my parent's house this past weekend and it is possibly the best place to recover from catching a cold. They're home is packed with natural remedies like fresh ginger, a whole lemongrass plant, lemons, and plenty of tea.

So how do you cope with having a cold? What are your natural remedies?

Flowers and Light II

Untitled

Almost a year ago, I started a series here called Flowers and Light to learn more about how to use light paired with flowers as the subject. It's been fun bringing home different kinds of blooms and experimenting with compositions, colorsblack and whitesinstaxes and backdrops to show different moods.

Now I'm so used to having flowers around that it has become a non-negotiable to be without them. It's so strange to see how different the first set are to the ones I've taken recently and I look forward to what another year of this holds! Sooo can it be peony season already?
